The information that students share in their profiles is visible to PenPals, so it’s important that students have a great profile and share information about themselves safely. You can find helpful mini-lessons about digital citizenship and online safety in our 21st Century Skills Toolkit

Here is an example of a student profile that needs some work: 

To edit a student profile, students should login and click on the profile picture in the upper righthand corner of the screen: 

Then, click Update Profile. This will open the profile editor, which looks like this: 

Once students have finished updating their profile information, they click save. Now, their PenPals will be able to see their updated profile! (If students are having trouble seeing their edits, they should refresh the page.)

Teachers can edit their profiles in the same way. First, click on the profile picture in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. Then, click Update Profile to view the profile editor. Notice that some parts of the teacher profile are private. 

Once you’ve finished updating your profile, click save

“I moved schools. What do I do?”
Update your profile to change your school. 

“What if I can’t find my school name?”
If your school is listed on Google Maps, you will be able to find it in our database. Try searching for your school name as it is listed on Google Maps. If you still have trouble finding your school name, contact our support team at support@penpalschools.com

“My administrator changed and I need to update their contact information.”
Contact our support team at support@penpalschools.com to update your administrator’s information. 

“I notice a PenPal’s profile is inappropriate. What do I do?”
You can report the inappropriate profile to our support team at support@penpalschools.com. Please tell us the name of the student, their project, and send us a screenshot of their profile.
